How We Met
Salvo and I have been together for 5 and a half years. Our story isn’t like most, we grew up halfway across the world from each other. I was born in Italy and raised in the United States for 13 years. After graduation, I decided to move back to Italy to stay with my family whom I am very close with. It was definitely a hard lifestyle change but after about a year in 2013, I met Salvo. It was carnival which is our Halloween here in Italy and we met thanks to one of his best friends named Valentina. I had met Valentina a few weeks prior and she played matchmaker and showed him a picture of me. As soon as he saw my picture, he fell for me. It wasn’t as fast for me.. but as soon as I got to know him, I knew he was the one. His full name means “Savior” and I always told him he was meant to save me. We met when I was going through the toughest time in my life. He has colored my world, I never thought anyone would love me the way he has through the good and the bad. After we had been together for a year and a half, my family decided to move back to Florida and I just couldn’t say goodbye to him. So I decided to stay even if that meant being alone. Now here we are almost 6 years later!

A few weeks ago he randomly brought up the idea of visiting Rome. It’s been a dream of mine to visit since the day I moved to Sicily. So we arranged it and last night he told me to close my eyes, got down on one knee and proposed in front of the twinkling colosseum. The phrase I’ll keep forever in my heart was when he said: “Our love is like this ring, simple and beautiful.” Can’t wait to be his forever ❤
