how we met
My fiancé, Rick, and I met at the end of 2013 at the gym. We instantly sparked in conversation, which led to him offering to coach me in preparation for my first bodybuilding competition. We trained hard daily and prepped together for 6 months, which resulted in a first place finish for me and an overall win for him!
how they asked
The Saturday before my birthday, Rick told me to dress up nicely to go on a surprise date in DC. We had talked marriage and had been together for over 4 years, so I just knew that he was going to propose that night because he knew one of my dreams was to be proposed to in the Nation’s Capital. He took me on a dinner cruise along the Potomac River and the night was absolutely perfect, but no proposal! To say I was disappointed was an understatement. Three days later was my birthday. I went to work as normal, came home to roses and then we went to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants just outside DC. I noticed he was acting a bit anxious, but I did not think much of it because he is always vigilant as a law enforcement officer. The waiter brought my food to the table along with a glass of champagne, which wasn’t abnormal because it was my birthday. Rick grabbed my hand and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes, but immediately wondered where the ring was and if he had asked my mom first. The ring was at the bottom of the champagne glass, and I had not even noticed! He then told me that he went to my mom’s job earlier that day to ask her for my hand in marriage. We took pictures and I messaged all my close family and friends to announce the good news, only to find them at our home when we came home from dinner. It was a complete surprise and the proposal was absolutely perfect!
