How We Met
Cameron and I met my junior year and his senior year of high school in 2013. He had a history class together and I cheered for our high school football team that he was apart of. I constantly caught him looking at me across the room during class and when he would be on the sidelines during games. Eventually, he messaged me on Facebook on November 2, 2013. We talked day and night for five days. We talked about wanting to hang out and so on November 7, I invited him to my little sister’s Veteran’s day program that night and that’s when he met my immediate family i.e. my mom and step-dad. We hung out that night until around 10 p.m. My step-dad and I took him to his house and when I was telling him bye, he asked me to be his girlfriend, which is also when he kissed me for the first time. We’ve been together ever since.

Cameron and I had been together for a year and 7 months when he proposed to me. It was the day of my high school graduation and I was so nervous that I might trip while walking across the stage and I honestly thought I might cry the whole night. But little did I know that I had so much more in store for me. I went to my graduation practice that morning then later that night, I rode with my two close friends to my graduation. We were waiting for it all to happen and I just couldn’t wait to see my family afterwards and start the summer and prepare myself for college. We went through our typical routine of walking out, sitting down, hearing the speeches, watching classmates walk across the stage. Then we were pronounced as graduates of 2015. We walked out orderly, then chaotically and eagerly to get outside. I walked outside, hugged my parents, hugged my siblings, then I hugged Cameron. He was shaking like crazy and he wouldn’t speak to me. I asked him multiple times what was wrong and he just couldn’t speak. Then all of a sudden, he dropped to his knee and showed the ring. I couldn’t believe what was happening. I was bawling my eyes out, everyone was gasping, they couldn’t believe what was happening either. Then he asked if I would marry him and, of course, I said yes! It was the greatest day of my life.
