How We Met
My fiance and I met when we were both 19 years old at our old restaurant job. We started out as friends of course, but I for sure had feelings for him from the beginning. I didn’t have a car at the time so he was always kind enough to give me a ride to and from work. Also when our group of friends made plans, he would always offer to give me a ride. He is the sweetest and kindest human being, and that was the main thing that attracted me to him, his dimples as well of course haha. We would close the bakery together every Thursday night, and leave work around 12am, he would still offer to take me home even if I lived a little further away than him. So we eventually started getting closer, going on lunches, movies, and he would drop me off at my house at 5 o clock of the morning because we would both fall asleep on his couch watching Criminal Minds or some other show. One day when he picked me up from my house to take me to work, he was standing outside his car. I thought it was weird because he usually just waited for me inside his car. He was leaning on his car looking so slick, as I get closer he pulls out a single rose and tells me lets make this official. We both had the cheesiest smile ever haha. After that, we have been inseparable.
How They Asked
Mid-September 2019 my fiance and I took a trip to the garden island of Kauai. It was both of our first times there. We planned this trip with my fiance’s parents, they met us there a few days after we arrived. Luckily we had friends that lived on the island who we were able to stay with for a few days. They are our amazing friends, who are now also engaged! The day after we arrived we went on a hike and did a few touristy things. That evening our friend Zach took us to Polihale beach to hang out and watch the sunset. There was a little bit of off-roading we had to do to get the beach, but it was so fun and hilarious. Once we got there we organized our things and got in the water. It felt great to be in the clear blue water, the waves were a little crazy that a huge one dropped us all and through us to shore.
I was so nervous to get back in, but I eventually did. Later when we all went back to sit and relax, Zach asked if he can take pictures with my Canon camera. I saw my fiance get up from his chair to an area where we can take pictures, so I got up to join him. The sun was setting and the clouds and sky were looking beautiful. I get closer to my fiance and reach towards and gives me a kiss on my cheek and says “I love you so much” then gets down on one knee!
He took the ring box out, opened it, and asked: “Will you marry me”? I was so nervous I was shaking, I reached down and kissed and hugged him. He says “is that a yes?” and I, of course, said yes! He was so cute he through a little fist pump haha.
He put my dream ring on my finger and I hug and kiss my future husband. We are still super thankful Zach was there to capture this moment with pictures we will have forever.
