Jamie and Tyler
How We Met
Like an increasing number of young millennial entering the workforce single after college, we met on Bumble. This, of course, isn’t the most glamorous way to meet the love of your life, but we’ve been buzzing about it for 2 years. Our first date was at a local Italian restaurant in the heart of Oklahoma City followed by an art walk and drinks. What impressed me about Tyler was his authenticity and humor. It truly felt like we had known each other our whole lives! As it turns out, we had actually been in the same place over 8 times and had never met. He even saw me sing in a music festival when we were both in college! After years of our paths crossing, with the help of a little (bumble) bee we finally met, and it’s been perfect ever since.
how they asked
I’ve been an avid reader since I was a child and Tyler knew that. My favorite place in the world is a local bookstore called Full Circle Books. It’s the perfect fall/winter spot because it has a rustic wooden interior with ladders attached to 12 foot tall bookcases and fireplaces everywhere. In our two years of dating, Tyler and I have countlessly found ourselves wondering into the store ‘just to look around’. On the day of our proposal, Tyler took me to a restaurant that we had always wanted to go to and then said that we were going to each pick out a book for each other at Full Circle and have a relaxing night in. When we entered, Tyler went straight to the mystery section and started browsing.
Then, out of nowhere, he pulled out a journal that we have written back and forth in for the past two years. In the journal he wrote “I know I’d regret it if I didn’t try…” which were the words he said to me right before he kissed me for the first time on our 3rd date back in 2016. He was nervous, I was nervous, but it was magical then and still is today. Attached to the journal’s ribbon bookmark was the ring. It was at that point that he asked me to marry him, and through happy tears I joyfully proclaimed YES!
After the proposal, we went back to my house where all of our friends and family were waiting to celebrate. It was truly one of the most magical nights of my life!
