How We Met

Mike & I met on Instagram! He messaged me a pickup line about my Instagram name sounding like a dinosaur, (@jaysuris) and surprisingly I answered him ;). We talked for a couple of days and then he asked me on a date. We got sushi! After the 1st date, we decided to hang out again the next day, and then the next. It was truly love at first sight. We have been dating for over 2 years and he has been my rock through everything. The moment I knew I wanted to marry him was when we were in the hospital with my dad who at the time had cancer (he is cancer-free now :) ) and Mike was helping him out of his bed to sit up. We had just found out my dad needed to get chemo and the way Mike helped me and my family through that whole year I just knew that he was the one!

How They Asked

10 days before Christmas Mike surprised me with a trip! He told me it was an early Christmas present and didn’t tell me where we were going, just what to pack for an overnight stay. That morning we drove 3 hours in the car from Long Island, NY and ended up in Kennett Square, PA. He took me to Longwood Gardens, a botanical garden that consists of over 1,077 acres. For Christmas, they decorate it with 500,000 twinkling lights. During the day we walked inside the Garden through rooms and rooms of flowers, trees and Christmas decorations.

Each room was uniquely beautiful. When the sun went down and it got dark, we began to walk through the outside garden light displays. It was a winter wonderland. We stopped to take a picture in front of a lake & this blue sparkling tree.

Mike said it was the “wishing tree” and to close my eyes and make a wish. As I opened my eyes he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so in shock that you can even hear my breath get taken away in the proposal video. The entire day was a Christmas fairy-tale and I am so excited to marry my prince charming!
