how they asked
I had NO IDEA what was happening. Charlie had just picked me up from the Seattle Airport (I was living in Denver and he still in Seattle at the time) and we had made plans to meet his parents for dinner at Salty’s in West Seattle. On our way to dinner, his “mom” texted me saying they were running late. Since they were running late, we had time to walk on the boardwalk that looked over The Sound.
As we walked, Char asked if he could take a photo of me on the end of a dock over the water.
When we got to the end, he took a photo of me then pulled our 3 custom letter-pressed cards (I collect cards), each of them have a different word on the front, “Family, Future, and Foundation.” Each word represented a core value he wanted for a relationship in the future.
As I started reading, I started to figure out what was happening! From there, he asked if I would be his bride!
And I said, “DUH!” Around the corner came Charlie’s best friends Sam, Kiki and Michele (who had been taking photos of the whole proposal!) Instead of texting Charlie’s mom on the drive over, I had been texting Sam so they could keep the dock cleared off where Charlie would propose. It was perfect in every way. Charlie is truly the best thing that ever happened to me. His humility, joy, integrity and kindness is unwavering and challenges me to become a better version of myself.
