Proposal Ideas Newport Vineyards

How We Met

Aaron and I met on Match.com, even though he says we matched on tinder too. Our first date was at a bar near Fenway in Boston which is also where we had our engagement photos! In all honesty, we weren’t big fans of each other right away, he thought I was stuck up and I thought he was pushy. For some reason, we kept seeing each other though, as early as the next day! If you ask Aaron how we met though, he’ll tell you I followed him home because he smelled like bacon!

How They Asked

All summer I was waiting for Aaron to propose, the summer has been busy and we hadn’t really gotten to enjoy it much, so much so that we decided to book a trip down to Newport for a long weekend at the end of August. The point of the trip was to give me something to look forward to while I waited on him! I planned the whole weekend, down to the hotel, restaurant reservations, and itinerary. Or so I thought. On the morning of the 25th Aaron wanted to get up early and head to Newport. I couldn’t understand why we had to get up at 7 when we were on vacation!

Where to Propose in Newport Vineyards

The day started with a tour of Fort Adams and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking at his pockets for a ring box! But, I didn’t see one sticking out so I knew it wouldn’t happen that day. Next, we went to tour the Breakers Mansion and again he was rushing me a bit! What the heck! After touring the mansion, we headed over to Newport Vineyards, which is our favorite spot in Newport, they had just opened a brewery inside and we were itching to try it. The beauty of Newport Vineyards is the outdoor area, it’s gorgeous and looks like you stepped out of Rhode Island and into Napa.

So I was quite annoyed when he didn’t want to go outside! We finally made it outside, played some cornhole and then decided to go for a walk in the vines. As I was telling him about a funny text with my best friends, he said he had to tie his shoe and in that instant, I knew it was happening. Honestly, I think I blacked out for a second, the next thing I knew he was down on one knee and I was crying. After I said yes, I turned around to see my best friend standing in the next row with her camera. It could not have been more perfect! He knows me so well and knew exactly how to make the moment perfect for me.
