How We Met
Nick and I met when we were in the same kindergarten class. Throughout the years we always had the same teachers and remained friends. I had a crush on him since the first grade. Finally, junior year of high school my friends told him I liked him. We began dating up until the end of my Freshman year of college. He went to Drexel and I attended Loyola.
One summer night Nick decided to tell me that he was going to transfer to the University of South Florida. I did not want to move to Florida and we decided to go our separate ways. Fast forward 7 years and I find myself living in Florida. Nick who no longer lives in Florida found out via LinkedIn I was there and asked me out for a drink while on business there. Since that day 2 years ago we have been inseparable.
How They Asked
Nick suggested for my birthday this year we go out West on a trip. I’ve been insisting we go to Horseshoe Bend even though it was 2 hours out of the way from the Grand Canyon. Nick flew out a few days before me for some work meetings. He picked me up at the airport and we made our way out to horseshoe bend. After having a lovely first day he suggested we go to bed early and prepare to wake up for a morning at Horseshoe bend.
We walked 25 mins to the location in which he asked me to face the canyon so he could get a nice picture of me looking out. Then he set up the tripod and we took a picture together. When I was about to walk away he got down on one knee and asked me to be his adventure buddy for the rest of his life. After crying happy tears I said yes to my best friend since kindergarten. Nick likes to say life isn’t a fairytale, but I think this is as close as it gets.
