How We Met
Shane and I met in the most unconventional way I ever thought I’d meet my soulmate: online dating! My coworkers at the time were all newly single and trying out a dating site. I’d always been the single one of the group so they kept badgering me to join with them, even just for fun. I said no a million times to the point that they made me a profile, matched with Shane, and started the conversation. Based on his pictures, he wasn’t my type so I almost stopped the conversation there but something told me, “what’s the worst they could happen?” When we met in person for the first time, it was love at first sight. Now, two years, 3 dogs, and a new state later, we are getting married! I will forever be thankful for my coworkers for doing all the dirty work!
How They Asked
2020, like for most people, put a damper in Shane’s plans to propose. We were set to go on a cruise in October and he was going to propose on the beach in Aruba at sunset. When we found out the cruise was cancelled, Shane told me his plan and the expected me to be upset. In all honesty, he could’ve proposed in front of a dumpster and I would’ve been happy. He did way better, though, and surprised me with a mental health day from work, took me to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and proposed in front of the Alice in Wonderland exhibit. It was perfect.
