How We Met
It was the last month of senior year at Bloomsburg when Mike and I met. We were both in Greek life but didn’t cross paths until that point. We talked for a while that night, but when graduation came we lost touch. Since Mike is in the military it left him back in school after I had already graduated.
That fall, our friends both (separately) visited Bloomsburg and happened to meet each other, which inevitably connected us to talk again. I knew at this point something was different about him.
In the 3 years I’ve know him we’ve experienced long distance for different reasons – both college and deployments. But there was nothing that could keep us apart.
how they asked
Each month since we began dating Mike has always sent me flowers on the day of our anniversary – regardless of his location in the world. Through this, he happened to figure out my favorite flowers were sunflowers. Not only because they’re beautiful, but because they were also my mother’s favorite.
I lost my mom to breast cancer when I was 16 and Mike has always done his part in including her in all of our life event, even if it was just a conversation! But this time, he could not have done a better job including her on our most important day … by asking me to be his forever in a field full of sunflowers.
