How We Met
Who says you can’t find love at the Jersey Shore? Jose and I met at Surf Club in New Jersey. He had been trying to get my attention at the bar and I wouldn’t go over to him. Finally, he walked right on over to me and introduced himself. We made small talk and realized that we lived one town away from each another on Staten Island, NY.
Fast forward a few weeks later and we realized that we also had mutual friends in common.
Hooked at the Jersey Shore and the rest is history.
how they asked
Jose did a great job of completely catching me off-guard! It was such an amazing day and everything I ever dreamed of.
Jose had planned to get me to Snug Harbor Botanical Garden in Staten Island, NY, but knew he couldn’t be the one to bring me there so he had reached out to my best friends to arrange a “girls’ day at the park”. That morning my friends picked me up and had to come up with reasons to stall to make sure Jose had enough time with family and friends to get ready for the engagement – everyone was in on it! He knew he was going to ask me to marry him under this beautiful tree-lined arch in the garden. He arrived early that day with family and friends and decorated the archway with rose petals, candles, champagne, music – the works. And it just so happened to have snowed earlier that week so everything was snow-covered and beautiful.
After stalling and grabbing coffee, my girlfriends and I finally arrived to the park. And to my surprise and complete shock, we turn to the archway and there’s Jose with my mom, dad, brother, and sister-in-law holding signs with words that spell out “Will You Marry Jose?”. Some of our closest friends and family lined the path for me to greet him where he proposed there in the snow, on one knee, in front of our loved ones.
After all of the shaking, smiling, crying, laughing, photo taking, and champagne toast, we all headed out for lunch at one of our favorite brunch spots.
It was the perfect winter engagement!
