Jacey and Dominick
Almost five years ago, I took Dominick on our first camping trip to the Mogollon Rim in Northern Arizona… and it rained the entire time (haha). Since then, we’ve made frequent visits and consider it one of our favorite places in our home state. We had been talking about taking the next step for a couple of months and when he asked me if I wanted to take a day trip to The Rim, I just knew he was going to ask me to be his wife.
Let me tell you… picking out an outfit when you think you are going to be proposed to is the hardest thing ever! I opted for my favorite flannel, took some deep breaths, and tried to keep my cool on the two-hour drive north.
Once we got to our destination, we had a picnic lunch on the shore of our favorite lake and basked in the sun for a couple of hours. By then, I couldn’t take it anymore — I suggested we pack up and go to our favorite viewpoint.
A little background about us — I LOVE photography and self-timer photos have been very prevalent in our five-year relationship. So, once we got to the viewpoint, I set up my camera, ran to be in the frame, and waited for the camera to fire. That’s when he pulled out the ring, got on one knee and asked, “Jacey, will you marry me?”.
Our proposal was perfectly us. Just the two of us, on an adventure, with our favorite view. Plus — not only did I get the perfect shot, I get to marry my best friend.
The best part? When we got home, he had the house decorated with balloons and flowers, champagne on ice, music playing, and Thai food was delivered 5 minutes after we walked in the door!
All the photos were taken with my self-timer… but yes, we will be hiring a wedding photographer haha. Oh, and the shot of him holding my hand with my new sparkly ring? That’s the exact spot he asked me to spend forever with him. (ahh I’m crying again)
