How We Met
We met on December 26th, 2014 in Urban Outfitters where Josh was working (and still does as a Display Artist). I came in with a few friends when I saw him. I had maybe seen him one time before, but he completely took my breath away. I did not have the guts to go talk to him, but I did do some professional stalking on Instagram and finally found his profile. I gave him a follow and had no expectations whatsoever, I just wanted to see his handsome face on my feed occasionally. But the next thing I know I am receiving a message from him on Instagram. So, there I am in my car reading this message and my heart just about flew out of my chest. So, one thing led to another and this is where I am going to let Josh tell you the rest…
December 28th, 2014 my roommate and I had planned a huge get together for my birthday. We invited everyone in my phone and had emphasized that there would be free pizza and drinks. That being said, we probably invited about 120 people. It being winter in Utah, there was a blizzard that night and only eight people showed up. Out of all my lifelong friends, multiple coworkers, and many other people I see on a regular basis, one of the very few people who braved the blizzard to come to my party was the girl I had met two days before. She walked in, all alone and knew no one, wearing her Chuck Taylor’s, and a beanie with the cutest curly hair coming out of it. Never in a million years would I have guessed that this girl would be my last, first kiss just mere days later on New Years Eve.
And it is pretty much history from there, we moved in together June of 2015 and never looked back! We have an amazing life together filled with love and passion oh and a very extensive collection of house plants.
how they asked
We got engaged on July 28th, 2016. It was a Thursday night, and we had been wanting to go sit in our hammock at our favorite park to watch the sunset. So, we arrived later that evening and I had noticed Josh acting a little funny but didn’t put too much thought into it. When we got there, we decided we wanted to take a photo because this park isn’t just any park. This was the park where Josh told me that he loved me for the first time while lounging in the hammock watching the sunset.
And on that day we had taken a picture to remember that special moment. So we decided to take another sunset photo, little did I know that this time Josh would be saying a lot more than “I love you”. So there we are setting up our little phone tripod, and when its finally in perfect position Josh walks over and starts talking about how special this place is to us and how far we have come and then I realize that this isn’t just a sweet walk down memory road, this is the moment where the man of my dreams and love of my life is going to ask me to marry him.
Next thing I know Josh is down on one knee with tears in his eyes as he asks me to be his wife. Tears rolling down my face I immediately say yes and he slips the most beautiful ring on my finger. We embrace and breath as we are both in some sort of shock and overwhelmed with all these feelings of excitement and happiness. After we catch our breath, we set up the hammock, and continue to watch the sunset as an engaged couple. Josh had set up the most perfect proposal. Nothing fancy or flashy, just us two in our park above the city. He did however take a time lapse of the entire thing (see below!), and I often find myself watching it over and over. I am so thankful to have the love of such an incredible man.
