Hunter and Hayden

How We Met

Hayden and I didn’t meet in a cute way. We both grew up in Oklahoma and had some mutual friends so we just ended up talking. He was from Edmond, where I was going to college at the time. He was going to college about an hour away in Stillwater. I told him that he was lucky because Stillwater was a lot more fun than Edmond because there was more to do. He said that Edmond was way better and so I told him that I would have to hang out with him sometime, so he asked me out. The day of our first date was after a tornado hit Oklahoma so the power was out at my house. I got ready in the dark and ended up being 15 minutes late (he always say it’s 30). He took me to a cute place in Arcadia called Pops 66, since I was running late we ended up late to dinner. When we sat down, we were told the kitchen was about to close so we needed to order soon.

We quickly ordered and then sat there talking. While talking I mentioned that I hadn’t had a snowcone yet that summer, this was at the end of May. After dinner, Hayden took me for snowcones. We sat there for a while and it was late but neither of us wanted to go home. After we were done with the snow cones we still didn’t want to go home so we ended up at Walmart, there’s not much open after 10 pm in Edmond. Both of us are children at heart so we ended up playing in the toy section. We goofed around and talked even more about our lives. I even convinced him to sit on a tricycle in the store. At the end of the night, I thought he didn’t like me because he didn’t try to kiss me, he just hugged me. As I turned the corner to leave I got a text from him talking about setting up another date. Since then, we’ve shared birthdays, graduations, gone on trips, and shared over 5 years together.

Where to Propose in Skydance Bridge in Oklahoma City

how they asked

Hayden and I had been dating for over 5 years. At the end of July, our friend Brandi texted me to ask if Hayden and I would do a photoshoot for an upcoming couples giveaway she wanted to do on her Instagram. It took a little bit of convincing but I finally got Hayden to reluctantly agree to do the photos (I did have to bribe him with the promise of dinner out afterward). On the day of the pictures we got ready and drove out to the Skydance Bridge in Oklahoma City, that’s where we had decided would be a nice setting for the pictures. We got to the bridge and started doing the pictures, about 15 minutes into the pictures we started doing pictures of us dancing.

While we were dancing Hayden started to tell me how much he loved me and what he loved about me. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes! I was so overwhelmed that I even put out my right palm for him to put the ring in. After that, we drove to the Ferris Wheel that is nearby to take more pictures. Later I learned that Hayden had set up the entire thing with Brandi. He even had Brandi message the girl that does my hair and planned the proposal for the week I got it done to make sure that I would feel like I looked my best. I can’t wait to marry my best friend in May of 2019.
