Where to Propose in Camp

How We Met

Regan and I met one summer at a camp for kids with disabilities. At first, it was a beautiful friendship. But camp is a magical place, and we grew even closer. Our first kiss was during a thunderstorm, and seconds after, we had to rush back to the cabins to the campers because of a tornado warning. Our budding relationship started in a whirlwind, and every moment since then has been an adventure as well.

Each experience has made me fall even more in love with her. Over the years, we both worked more at camp, did the long-distance thing, and I brought her on a trip around the world with me. We shared two passions together in camp and working with people with disabilities, and I wanted to share another passion of mine (travel) with the love of my life. It’s been such a beautiful adventure, and I am so excited each morning to see what each day has in store for us.

Wedding Proposal Ideas in Camp

How They Asked

Since travel was one of my great passions and we were about to go on a trip around Europe, it was in Norway, on the edge of a cliff overlooking a breath-taking fjord that I had first thought about proposing to her. I almost couldn’t resist the once-in-a-lifetime backdrop. But the more I thought about it, the more I knew that something felt off. Norway held no memories for us. So I took things back to the place it all started. The place that brought us together. The place I met my best friend – Camp. So I planned the surprise. I was waiting for her at the top of the zip line platform, which was her favorite place at camp, with the best view overlooking the treetops. She was also the ‘adventure specialist’ and spent a lot of time up there over the years. I was waiting, harnessed in with all but one knot tied on the ropes. As she came up, I said to her “I want to go on another adventure with you – the biggest one yet.

This adventure will be fun and beautiful, but also challenging at times. You are the only one I want to go with me. You are who I want to go on all my adventures with and spend my life with. I love you.” Trying to hold it together, and gesturing to the zip line, I say “I am ready to take this next big jump in our lives, but this knot is still untied. So I need to ask you one question. Do you want to tie the knot?” Then, I got down on one knee and showed her my carabiner – it had the ring on it. She smiled, cried, kissed me, hugged me, laughed at my corny joke, but most of all – she said yes! Then, we flew off the platform into the sunset, to start our next big adventure together, at the magical place where it all began.
