how we met
We’re both nurses and we met at work in Austin, TX. I was finishing a travel nurse assignment and leaving the state in two weeks when she first commented on a new hair cut I had.
how they asked
Carol’s favorite city is New Orleans so I always knew I wanted to propose there. Since she had moved all the way to Alaska she frequently spoke of missing her friends from the East Coast and Texas. New Orleans seemed like a central meeting spot for everyone so I blasted a message to her friends with the hopes of a few of them joining us for a surprise proposal. In the end, 30 people surprised her. I planned it over 7 months.
Leading up to our flight out of Alaska, she thought I was taking her to Mexico City. We arrived in New Orleans at 11am the day of the proposal (our flight was pushed back). At 3pm we were downing coffee at Cafe du Monde, still sleep deprived from our flight. She thought we were going to an early dinner (I told her I made special reservations 6 mos in advance and the early slot was the only time available). Then we walked through Jackson Square and I very nervously got down on one knee and proposed. It was perfect. Samantha at Three Little Words helped me plan and Sophie Berard captured the moment. After the proposal, Carol told me she couldn’t believe it and she was excited to share New Orleans with just me and her. We walked to grab a cocktail at Cane & Table restaurant, strolled to the back courtyard where all our friends were waiting. Carol cried. It was the most perfect, magical weekend.
