How We Met
I’m a nurse and upon moving I transferred to the trauma ICU Laura worked in; she was actually my boss! We hit it off as friends for over a year and became really close. She lit up a room and always held everyone’s attention with her over the top stories! I loved being around her energy and belly laughing at all her ridiculousness. To my surprise, when I decided to leave that hospital to travel nurse, she followed me!
Eventually, Laura grew enough liquid courage to say there’s something more in this chemistry than just friends and MAN DID I FIGHT IT. I had just gotten out of a long term relationship and wanted nothing to do with another one for a long time. But, with her persistence, I eventually gave in to her charm and it’s the best decision I ever met. She is my greatest adventure and has given me a love story they make movies about!
How They Asked
Laura asked me to throw on a dress and get ready for a sunset picnic date. We drove out to a windy, cloudy mountain top and shared some crackers and wine with the mosquitoes. We walked through a field of buttercups and she got down on one knee and said NOTHING for what seemed like an eternity, but with the biggest smile on her pretty face; She eventually whispered “Will you marry me?” and I gave her the easiest yes of my life.
Then to heighten my already fragile emotional state, she pulled out a video she put together of our families and friends congratulating us and shedding their love and support on us. And I. Came. Undone. I am SO blessed.
