Andria and Kasey
How we met
Andria and I met in high school. I still remember the first time I laid eyes on her. It was at the talent show, she performed a Salsa dance and I was immediately crushing on this girl. I had to get to know her. Well… Let’s just say she wasn’t interested. I’ll admit, 16 year old me was a little heartbroken. After that, no matter how much time passed she still crossed my mind. There was something about her that my heart didn’t want to let go of – and now I know why. A little over ten years later we were able to reconnect through Instagram. We instantly had this spark – I knew this was different than anything else I had ever felt. After a few weeks of texting, she made the drive to Raleigh to spend the weekend with me. I’ll tell you what… As soon as she came around the corner with that beautiful smile I was certain that I was in love with this woman. And little did I know she was feeling the same way. Since that night we have been inseparable. She is the best part of me.
How They Asked
We had been planning a summer trip to California to celebrate our one year anniversary. I was planning to propose. I wanted every detail about it to be everything she had ever imagined and more. So I was doing my research and came across Sunset Cliffs in San Diego – it was breathtaking. As I dug a little deeper into it, I found the most amazing spot. I knew that’s where I was going to do it.
Having never been to California I had no idea about any of the areas there so, no lie, I was using Google Earth to zoom in on the cliffs trying to find this specific spot! Luckily I eventually found it. I got into contact with Derek, our wonderful photographer, told him the details and we set the date. I told her that I got us a photo session for our one year anniversary, she was so excited. So we got all dressed up and headed to Sunset Cliffs. I made sure to play all of “our songs” on the way there.
Once there, we began taking pictures and all along I’m internally freaking out and so nervous! I was rehearsing my lines in my head and everything. Once the sun started setting we headed to the spot I picked. My heart was beating out of my chest. “Andria, you are the visible personification of absolute perfection. (At this point she figured out what was happening and was tearing up and in turn made me all teary eyed) You must allow me to always show you how ardently I admire and love you by becoming my wife. Will you marry me?”
Her initial reaction was “You want to marry ME!?” and then it was, “Yes! Duh!” It was so perfect. By far the happiest moment of my life. It’s most definitely a feeling I will never forget. I can’t wait to marry her.
