  1. 1. Let him know you’re invested in the relationship

Without sending him a link to your “dream wedding” Pinterest board (yes, we know you have one) find a way to express how much you value your relationship. There are many reasons why a guy hasn’t proposed yet, and fear of rejection could be one of them. He may just be waiting for a green light!

  1. 2. Openly chat about your goals

Be honest with one another about your dreams and life goals. If you’re a career-driven woman then he may be worried about distracting you from your job with an engagement. Know exactly where you each stand professionally and financially.

  1. 3. Drop hints about the style ring you like

Aside from knowing that it will be expensive and sparkly, your guy has no idea how to shop for your engagement ring. Give him some clues on what style, shape and setting you prefer like when you see something that catches your eye. You can always point out a few favorites while casually shopping at the mall.

  1. 4. Comment on a friend’s engagement

Flash him a few Instagrams, since it’s likely that many of your friends are getting married, and say something along the lines of, “Samantha just got engaged. Look at her ring! It’s perfect.” He may roll his eyes because he totally sees through your little ploy, but hey, you hinted.

  1. 5. Have a truthful conversation

Whether you’ve been together for three months or five years, it can be tricky to express that you’re ready for marriage if the details haven’t been fully discussed yet. Don’t give an ultimatum, but talk honestly about how you envision your future together. You don’t have to nail down the details, but getting on the same page can move things right along.

And there you have it. Remember: Be patient. Always enjoy each other’s company and don’t forget to send us your proposal story when he officially pops the question!
