How We Met
I was visiting a friend in Canberra, we were on a pub crawl, dressed up as candy canes. We had visited a couple of pubs and had noticed there was a few guys following the group around, even though they weren’t on the pub crawl. One of them eventually came up to my friend and myself and asked why we were dressed the way we were. This particular guy happened to be the man I was eventually going to marry (even though I didn’t know it at that point in time), after a long chat and an exchange of numbers I decided to call it a night. We didn’t see each other for 6 months, only exchanging text messages every now and then. I happened to mention to Richard that I was planning a trip to Canberra to see my friend and he asked if he could take me on a date, and I accepted. Richard took me on a wonderful date, 8 months later I moved to Canberra permanently, found work, we moved in together and the rest is history.
how they asked
It was New Years Eve, Richard and I had gone away with a group of friends for a little coastal holiday. It was early in the afternoon when I thought I would try and get some shut eye since I knew it was going to be a big night. Much to my disappointment Richard was very much against the idea of me having a nana nap he even got my best friend to start texting me telling me we need to go on a ‘scenic walk’. I dragged myself out of bed, and we met our good friends outside our hotel, little did I know everyone knew what was about to happen except me! We walked along the beautiful coast line and our destination was this big lighthouse.
Once we were at the lighthouse my bestie suggested we should take some photos and that we did, we got a few photos and then my bestie said I should get one with Richard, instead of getting a photo the filming started, I was being silly thinking we were just having funny photos and the next thing I remember is Richard down on one knee. Tears just started running down my cheeks and I couldn’t even look at what was happening, through Richards emotions he some how asked ‘will you marry me?’ and of course I said YES!
