How We Met
We have known each other for over 10 years because we went to high school together. During high school we had mutual friends so we knew of each other and saw each other around. At this time though, our lives were headed in different paths.
In the summer of 2012, our paths crossed and ended up converging. What started out as a friendship quickly grew into a relationship.
Our relationship has consisted of sharing our love of football, going to the mountains, traveling together, and most importantly growing together. We continually have supported each other through every decision we have made.
We have built a life together over the past 4-5 years of our lives together with having two dogs, buying a house, and following our professional paths with PA School and a MBA. We encourage each other to be better for ourselves and each other and motivate each other to push forward when times get tough. We make every decision keeping the other one in mind and including them in that decision. We are best friends and can always rely on one another no matter what. We make each other want to be better and we are very excited for this next chapter in our lives together and are excited to include those that we love and care about in this special time of our lives.
how they asked
Josh had just gotten off working a 1 1/2 to 2 month long stretch at work that consisted of 16 hour days, with no days off. He told me that due to their hard work, their company was holding a work event as an appreciation for their hard work.
The event was scheduled for July 3rd, 2016. He continually told me things for me to believe this was an actual event including the fact that it was a work event which required us to dress up in formal clothing. The event was being held at The Denver Botanical Gardens. When we arrived, we began walking to a specific area in the botanical gardens, location 50 also known as the “Romantic Gardens.” We walked over there and Josh said “Let’s continue to look around for a couple minutes before we meet up with everyone since you have never been here.” I said “Great! Sounds good to me!” We continued to walk for a couple minutes, admiring the beauty that the botanical gardens offered.
Josh then pointed out an area and said “let’s go look over there, it looks pretty.” So we walked to this area with a beautiful pond with flowers sparsely throughout the water and a water temple in the background. We took a few moments to admire the beauty, when Josh said “There’s actually something I wanted to ask you” which then led him to get down on one knee and ask “Will you marry me?”
I was absolutely speechless and all I could do was cover my mouth and cry.
I couldn’t believe this was the day that would change our lives forever. I couldn’t find the words to say “Yes” throughout my hysterical crying, and so I nodded yes.
Then to my surprise, Josh points out to the distance and there are two people taking photos catching this moment on camera.
To top it all off, Josh then presents earrings to me that match the already gorgeous engagement ring he had presented. He truly made this day memorable and one we both will never forget.
