How we met: pete and i met on match.com in the summer of 2013. our first date was at cask, a craft beer and wine bar in nyc. after our first date he walked me home to my apartment and we shared our first kiss. from there on out it was nothing but a fun-filled adventure. from a chicago bears game with his family to spending thanksgiving together in MA, vacations in punta cana, florida and california – 2013 was amazing. speed forward to june of 2014 and we made the decision to move into a brand new apartment together right off NYC’s highline in chelsea. starting a home together became our next adventure and i couldn’t be happier.
how they asked: it was a cold, winter, tuesday morning. pete told me we were going to a client breakfast for his investment banking firm at del posto, a restaurant near our apartment. this turned out to be a ploy to get me dressed up and on the highline. as we strolled down the walkway pete stopped me to take a photo of us with the empire state building in the background and the sun rising. after we showed me how the photo came out, he grabbed my hand and got down on one knee.
he said amazing, sweet, romantic things, all of which i barely remember as i was completely shocked and in disbelief. suddenly a photographer he had hired to capture the moment popped out and caught everything on camera, which i am so grateful for. i was then handed a card that read we were leaving for barcelona, spain that friday to celebrate.
after taking a few photos on the highline, we went downtown to have breakfast at the restaurant where he first asked me to be his girlfriend. we then called family and friends and stared at the ring :)
