How We Met
We met in August of 2014 while we were both attending Marshall University. Two of our best friends date, still to this day, and because of that, they decided that Cody and I would be the perfect match for each other. Turns out they were right! We went on a blind date to the movies and ever since then we’ve been inseparable. We’ve been happily dating since August 2014 and we got engaged on May 19, 2019. I’m so thankful for that blind date that brought me the love of my life- my husband to be.
How They Asked
On May 19, 2019, the love of my life got down on one knee and asked me if I would be his wife! I said YES! It was the happiest, sweetest and best day of my life. After spending the weekend enjoying the pool, our family and celebrating two of our friends getting married, we got to enjoy our engagement and celebrate as well. Sunday was just a typical day – at least I thought it was anyway- we started our morning with coffee and went to church. Usually, after church, we go out and eat but we decided we just wanted to go home this Sunday. We ended up passing the turn to head to Cody’s house. I wondered where we were going and had NO idea he was about to pop the question. I thought we were just going for a drive and spending some time together. Cody took me up to the RD Bailey Dam in Gilbert.
This spot is so special for us because the first time I ever visited Cody in Gilbert, this is where we went. While we were standing on the dam looking out at the water, the view is to die for, Cody began taking a walk down memory lane with me. He mentioned our first visit to this dam and talked about how much our relationship, friendship, and love has grown over the last 4 years. After he talked about how much we had grown, he told me that I was his best friend and that he loved me so much. He then said he thought we were ready to take the next step in life and got down on one knee and said “Heather, will you marry me?” I instantly cried and couldn’t say anything but YES!! I’m so excited to spend the rest of my life with this man.
