Haylee and Orbi

How We Met

Orbi and I have known each other for NINE YEARS!

We met in the fall of 2008 at the beginning of my 8th grade year. That year I made the decision to attend the school Orbi was currently going to. We officially met at one of the school’s football games. My first impression of Orbi was that he did not seem interested in me, but I later found out it was because he had a girlfriend and was doing the right thing by being loyal even though he secretly had a crush on me.

Orbi and I instantly became friends once we both started high school. He was the quarterback of the football team and I was his “secret cheerleader” every year of high school (meaning I would make him treats and write him good luck notes for his games). Throughout high school, we went to events like Homecoming, Sadie Hawkins, Prom, and hung out all the time. There were many times where we would both secretly have a crush on each other, but we never had the courage to tell each other our feelings.

Finally, during our senior year of high school, Orbi (with the encouragement of my best friend) pulled me aside after one of our classes that we had together and told me that he liked me. I told him the feeling was mutual. A few weeks went by and on October 1, 2011 after our big win at the homecoming game, Orbi surprised me with flowers and asked me to be his girlfriend. Just a month and a half later, Orbi and I said, “I love you.” We have been together ever since!

how they asked

This past April, my family took us to my favorite place in the world, Disney World! Little did I know that Orbi had been scheming for over a year to propose to me on this trip. Orbi had made reservations 6 months in advance and surprised me with dinner inside Cinderella’s Castle at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. While Orbi denies that he did, I could tell that he was acting a little differently that day. After dinner, the waitress brought us a dessert on a covered plate. Once she lifted the cover, the plate was filled with red rose petals and on top was Cinderella’s glass slipper. He then got down on one knee and said, “Haylee, I love you. You’re my princess and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” And of course, I SAID YES!! We then spent the night riding my favorite rides, watching the fireworks, admiring my sparkly new ring, and later we celebrated with champagne with my family. It truly was the most magical day EVER!
