Harry Potter-Inspired Marriage Proposal

How We Met: I was a hostess at Chili’s and he was a 6’6″ film geek who came every Thursday and flirted with me in a Scottish accent (that took me 2 months to figure out it wasn’t a real accent!) I grew impatient with waiting for him to ask me out, so on Valentine’s Day, I gave him a Valentine card with my phone number, he called two days later and we’ve been inseparable since!

how they asked: I’m a big Harry Potter nerd. He’s a videographer with a passion for all things film and editing. He combined both into a super planned out scavenger hunt. He was gone for the day, “filming a wedding” and I was waiting for a friend to pick me up to prepare for a birthday party. Instead, Scott, a fellow videographer, showed up with cameras and a clue! This lead to 9 other clues, leading me around my own house, car and our town of Elgin, IL, with the videographer capturing every nervous giggle and nerdy detail. I was lead to our godchildren’s mom for a clue, our local UPS (where Jaysin does printing for his wedding couples), a downtown park, our local library, our favorite Chinese food/ice cream place and finally to our favorite restaurant. He was waiting upstairs to pop the question in a room filled with candles. 7 years of waiting, 1 year of planning, several friends helping and 3 hours later – I’m engaged! Jaysin edited the whole thing into a 9 minute video to show our friends and the response has been huge!
