How We Met
Lauren and I met over a year ago while attending the same college. But it was this year that things between the two of us really took off. We got back in touch after I went and saw her compete and win at Miss Rexburg. After finally convincing her to give me a first date things have been nothing short of fantastic!

Church had just ended, and I was waiting for Chris to get out of class. I waited for awhile, and he didn’t show up. I was about to call him, and then one of his good friends walked up to me and handed me a rose and a piece of paper. The paper was sealed with a wax seal, and the stamp was the Hogwarts Symbol, from our favorite series Harry Potter. I was extremely curious to see what this note could be! I read the note, and it was from Chris. The note told me that I was going on a scavenger hunt!
Chris wrote down three clues to help me find the next destination. After I read them, I immediately knew that the next clue would be at the place where we had our first real date. After dinner, we spent our first date walking along the river and talking for hours. We have gone back to this place many times, and we have a spot on a bridge where we like to sit and put our feet in the water. I went to this location, and I found his parents waiting for me. They gave me a big hug and told me how excited they were for us. I knew at this point that something big was about to happen! His parents then handed me another rose and my next clue.
On the BYU-Idaho campus, there is a place called the Gardens. It is filled with beautiful flowers, trees, and fountains. This place is where Chris and I talked about becoming exclusive and giving our relationship a real chance. We are both living in Idaho Falls now, so we do not have the chance to go up to Rexburg often. Instead, down on the greenbelt, there is a place called the Japanese Gardens. It is not as big, but it is still beautiful. Chris and I love to walk down there to remind us of the gardens at BYU-Idaho. The next clue sent me to these Japanese Gardens, and I found my parents there waiting for me. They were so excited to see me, and I started to cry with happiness because I knew what was happening. They gave me advice and told me how excited they were as I am now starting this new chapter of my life. After we walked around the gardens for a bit, they handed me another rose and the next clue, also sealed with a Hogwarts stamp.
This one was a bit more tricky, but with help from my parents, I realized that my next stop would be at the Idaho Falls Temple. Chris and I are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and our ultimate goal has always been to be married in the temple. I drove to this destination, and I found my sister and his brother waiting for me. They gave me a large bouquet of roses and the final clue. This clue told me to go to my house to find my surprise! I was bursting with excitement, and luckily I hit almost every green light on the way home.
As I pulled into my driveway, Chris was waiting for me. He was all dressed up in his nice suit, and he gave me a big hug as I got out of my car. He grabbed my hand, and we started walking towards my backyard. He told me many of the reasons why he loves me, and why he wants to be with me forever. We turned the corner and I saw the grass covered in rose petals, which led to a giant heart made out of rose petals. My heart started beating so fast as I anticipated what was about to happen. We got to the middle of the heart and he bent down on one knee and asked if I would marry him.
I couldn’t say yes fast enough! He put the gorgeous ring on my finger, and then he gave me a big hug and a kiss. It was like a dream. I could not stop smiling as he grabbed my hand and we started walking towards my house.
As we turned around, I saw all of my family and his family pressed up against the window, watching everything that happened. They cheered as we walked into the house, and everyone was filled with so much joy! We are so lucky to have families that are so supportive, and I love them so much.
My life still feels like a dream. I didn’t know it was possible to be this happy or to love someone this much. I am so lucky to have found the man of my dreams; my prince charming. We are not perfect, but we know that we are so much better together than we are apart. He is so supportive and encouraging, and I would not want to spend my life with anyone else. I am so excited to continue my journey of life with him, and I am looking forward to all of the adventures we will have in the future.
