How We Met
We met while at a Jewish Youth Group. I was 14 and he was 16. We became friends when we realized we went to the same Jewish Camp. I had a crush on him. We lost touch after he graduated and left for college. 10 years later I went on a Jewish dating app while walking to work and he popped up. I swiped right and later in the day I got a notification we matched! We went on our first date both thinking worse comes to worst we would catch up with an old friend. We clicked well and the rest is history.
How They Asked
We went on a cruise to Alaska to celebrate me finishing my master’s in Education. We went on an excursion to an island with a rain Forrest. We got to the end of the hike and he allowed everyone else in the group to go ahead except one person he asked to take our photo in front of a 400-year-old tree. He got down on one knee. He didn’t get much of a sentence out before I began to scream and jump up and down.
My ring was not yet ready by the time we left so my mom had the idea of using a light-up ring. It barely fit but wore it for the rest of the trip!
I got my actual ring when I got home that had my Bubby’s (grandmother in Yiddish) emerald in it. I was very close to her but she passed while I was in college. So I get to have a piece of her with me every day.
