Hannah and Joshua

how we met

We met for the VERY first time a few years back in 2016 through an on campus college ministry organization we were both involved with. However, we were just acquaintances at that point, we literally probably only knew each others names. Fast-forward a few years later and we had both moved to the same city to be involved in a local church there. One of my best friends, Chelsea, and her husband love to run and they actually invited us (individually) and a few other people to travel with them to the Outer Banks for a half-marathon they were running in November 2018. We both went and this is where we really first started getting to know one another. One night on the trip a group of us went out to walk on the beach, its a precious memory for both of us now– the stars were like nothing we had ever seen before (we still talk about them!) and we all talked for hours. For both of us, that trip/that night with our friends was what really made us interested in one another! A few months later we started dating!

how they asked

So the proposal was a huge surprise to me! My good friend I mentioned earlier told me we should go look a rings a few months prior to the proposal. Due to some life events that had happened I was convinced the proposal would be at least a year away but I went anyway. In the meantime her and Josh were scheming away. In the past I had done a styled shoot for my friend, as she runs a small wedding florist and coordinator business. So, when she asked me to model for another one I was all for it! While in reality Josh saw it as the perfect opportunity to propose, he had hired the photographers and planned the whole thing. We went to a BEAUTIFUL lake at sunrise and started taking photos. When Josh was about to pull into the parking lot the told me to turn around to get a shot of the back of the dress (but in reality it was so I wouldn’t see him) While I was turned around he walked down the dock to me and touched my side. My immediate response was “What are you doing?!” and he proceeded to tell me he was proposing because I just couldn’t get it through my head why he would be there. This moment was followed by sweet words and my ultimate “YES!”.
