How We Met
Jeremy caught my eye freshmen year of college at the Bible study my best friend and I attended. However, it didn’t begin as a romantic interest but as respect and the desire to be friends with such a cool, godly, fun guy. Six months later he asked me to the cutest, most romantic hiking date that he planned. I knew from date 1 or 2 that he was the man I would marry.
how they asked
Fast forward to April 21, 2018. My sister, Sarah, was in town for the weekend. At the time I had no idea this was part of an elaborate proposal plan. Sarah and my best friend Anna had planned a relaxing morning getting our nails done, lunch, and allegedly taking pictures along the canal near Butler University (go Dawgs). This was all part of the plan to make sure that I didn’t wear my usual Saturday running attire. :) While we were taking pictures on the canal, we came up to a beautiful grove of flowers, where I then noticed a mat covered in red rose petals and a sign that said: “We love because he first loved.” At this point, I knew what was happening, and in a typical fashion started balling.
At this point, Sarah handed me her phone which had a 12-minute video that Jeremy had recorded over the course of the past four months that chronicled him asking my dad to marry me, buying my ring, and planning the day. Be still my heart. After the video concluded, I turned around to see Sweet Jeremy. He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. To which I exclaimed “Yes! Are you kidding me?” Side note, he couldn’t have picked out a more perfect ring. He suggested we call my parents (who live in Colorado), and while we were doing so all 4 of my parents popped out of the bushes! Anyone who knows me knows that was just the perfect touch. We spent the evening celebrating with our parents, friends, and family. Truly the perfect day.
