How We Met

David and I met when I first moved to New Jersey in 2007.(I was 11 years old) We were going to the same church and there was just something about him, we just had an instant connection, it wasn’t long before we were secretly dating behind my parents backs in 7th grade. It was actually funny because now looking back, it probably wasn’t as big of a secret as we thought it was. Being so young we broke up after a couple of months and went on with our young lives; we always had each other in the back of our minds though.(Which will happen to you when you are still going to the same church as them and see that person every week.)

2 1/2 years later, my freshman year of high-school, his sophomore year, we knew we had to be together, there was something still there that we couldn’t ignore any longer, so we started dating again on February 20th, 2011; “secretly” of course,. In case you haven’t realized by now, my parents were not OK with the whole dating thing. I think what really drew me to him was his kindness and attentiveness to what was going on in my personal life at such a young age.

My mother passed away from cancer in October, 2011, just 8 months into us dating; he was at that hospital for months every week just so he could sit and be with me, I knew that he would stick by my side through anything and everything. The rest is history from there, even from such a young age we both knew that this was it, neither of us wanted to be with anyone else and its been that way for an amazing 5 1/2 years! We are very young but when you have a love like this, age is just a number… :)

how they asked

I had been planning our trip to Norway for a year! My sister, her husband, David and myself bought the tickets and were just counting down the days until September, 30th! We were going to be travelling along the entire southern coast, going from city to city exploring everything Norway had to offer. I had planned two hikes up to Norway’s famous Fjords for us on Wednesday and Thursday, Wednesday came around and I was pumped! David not being a big hiker, was slightly less enthusiastic but was excited nonetheless.

Little did I know he was actually just super nervous because of what he had planned for when we reached the top! It wasn’t the most difficult hike but it definitely wasn’t a walk in the park either; sweaty and tired we reached the top of Preikolstolen and took in the amazing view. We sat down and took a rest when he started talking about how glad he was that we were here and how he would never be some place this amazing if it weren’t for me, in my mind I was just thinking, “Awe how sweet of him.”.

After about an hour of hanging out, taking all sorts of pictures, he asked to take one last picture; me being, well…me, I shut him down saying we had already taken 1000 pictures, why do we need to take one more. He, of course convinces me to go to the edge and smile for one more picture, when all of the sudden he gets down on one knee, takes both of my hands and asks me to spend the rest of my life with him, I couldn’t believe it!

I actually think I may have blacked out for a quick second, it all happened so fast.

One minute I was smiling for a picture, and the next I have a ring on my finger and hear dozens of people yelling and clapping.

He was shaking so much, it was adorable, he could barely get a word out.

It was absolutely amazing, never in my wildest dreams did I think he would be asking me to marry him on top of a mountain, in Norway, looking over one of the most beautiful Fjords in the world.
