Engagement Proposal Ideas in University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Campus

How We Met

Ben and I met 5 years ago at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point as a freshman. He is from Oshkosh and I’m from the Milwaukee area, so we were able to spend every semester together but we always had to battle long-distance during the winter and summer breaks. As the years went on, we grew together and even though I was graduating one year before him and would be moving 3 hours south for graduate school, we supported each other and always knew that once we got through the long-distance we’d be together forever!

How They Asked

Ben and I had been talking about engagement and getting married before he proposed which got me even more excited about our future together. I will admit that I started looking up vendors and various things that I wanted for the wedding because I was so excited and wanted to do my research early so it would make booking vendors and much easier once we were engaged. Ben and I hadn’t been back at UWSP since he had graduated in May of 2019, so it crossed my mind that it could be happening that day, but I didn’t think he’d gotten the ring yet. We were at UWSP because my sister was diving there for the school that day, so we got lunch with my parents before the meet and then drove to campus.

We parked at his favorite lot on campus because there’s hardly ever any cars there on the weekends. We got out of the car and were walking to our favorite spot on campus where I always used to joke that we should get married because it’s a big circle in the middle of some of the buildings on campus. He took my hand as we were walking and said, “so you’re gonna kill me, but the last 5 years have been amazing,” and he pulled out the ring!! I was so in shock, and then he was down on one knee and said, “will you marry me?” I said, of course, I would and I couldn’t imagine being any happier since I was with the best man in the world in one of my favorite places in the world!
