How We Met

On Thursday, January 11, 2018, while sitting in bed, I signed up for a well-known dating app called Bumble. After a few swipes left and right, I was feeling a bit feisty and started sending messages to guys. While most responded with a typical “hey, what’s up?” Bailey immediately started cracking jokes. Instantly our conversation flowed. At the end of the night, Bailey asked for my number, (granted I had already stalked his Facebook, social media sites and contacted anyone who was a mutual friend to make sure he was normal), and willingly, I gave it to him. On Friday, January 12, 2018, I unknowingly met my future husband. While texting, I asked Bailey if he had any plans that weekend, we quickly planned a date to meet that night. I actually was very hesitant to go on the date since it was so quick, but my parents assured me that if I didn’t like him, I never had to see him again. Bailey and I met at Perkins Rowe and while waiting to get out of my car, I texted Bailey to see if he was nervous! He thought it was adorable, but inside I was shaking! We ate at California Pizza Kitchen, and to this day; I still cannot remember what I ate because I was so nervous. The one thing I do remember is talking non-stop throughout the entire dinner.

how they asked

I was raised Catholic and always wanted to be married in the Catholic Church. Bailey was raised Methodist, but knew the importance of church to me, so he and I would go to church together. We quickly found a church that we knew we wanted to get married in. I knew the proposal was coming, we had discussed it and looked at rings, but I was not sure when it would happen. Bailey started to act very strange one weekend and told me to invite my parents to eat on a Sunday night. We spend a lot of time with our parents, so this was nothing new to me.

The day of, we went to Waffle House for breakfast then he dropped me off at my apartment, which is something he never does because usually, we spend all day together whenever we’re both off. The thought crossed my mind, but I didn’t pay much mind to it and went about my day. My parents arrived at my apartment and told me to quickly get dressed because we had somewhere to be. I was confused because we weren’t supposed to go to dinner until 6. My parents drove me to the church that Bailey and I attend and outside was a side table with a huge arrangement of flowers on it. As I walked up, I noticed a note with my name on it. As I was reading, Bailey came up from behind me and held me until I finished. When I got to the end of the letter, Bailey had wrote, “P.S. Are you nervous?” then got down on one knee to ask me to be his wife.
