how we met

We have been dating for over four years now and are so excited to be getting married on our five-year dating anniversary, November 19th, 2016 at The Bradford! We met when we were 18 in our first semester at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. We lived in the same dorm and on the same floor so we would often bump into one another in the common room. After a few encounters, we both began spending more time in the common room in hopes of causally seeing one another. One night after UNCW Parent’s Weekend, we ended up in the common room together with a few other friends and a giant basket of stale, leftover, cornbread muffins. Being 18 year olds with nothing to do, we soon realized we could throw these muffins at/ to each other and make a game out of it. This night of “muffin chucking” as we fondly call it, is the first night we really hung out together for more than a few minutes. After this night, Blake and I became basically inseparable, and have been for over four years now.

how they asked

The day started like any other day, except it just happened to be Halloween. Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays, so when I woke up on Saturday October 31st 2015, I knew it was going to be a good day, but what I didn’t know is that in a few short hour, it was going to be my absolute favorite day of my life so far.

We started out the day with Blake’s suggestion to go get coffee and brunch at a local Downtown Raleigh Coffee Shop, The Morning Times. As coffee, brunch, Halloween, and Blake (not in that order) are four of my most favorite things, you could say I was a bit excited. The weather was perfect outside, a nice 67 degrees and sunny, so after brunch Blake suggested we adventure to the top of the parking deck to take photos with the Raleigh skyline. To anyone else this might have seemed a bit suspicious, but as we are both photographers, always carrying a camera and random photo adventures are quite the norm for us.

When we got to the top of the parking deck, the skyline was perfect and we were all alone. Blake suggested we set up the tripod to capture a photo of the two of us. When it was all set up he walked over to me and I got ready to pose for the camera, but he had a different idea.

Blake grabbed my hand and knelt on one knee and asked me to be his wife, to which I replied yes before he could even finish.

On October 31st, 2015 at approximately 1:08PM, my best friend asked me to be his wife. I said yes.
After the proposal we took about an hour to ourselves to relish in the fact that we could now finally call each other Fiancé.

We took some more pictures a top the parking deck to remember the moment and then rushed home to tell our friends and family the wonderful news! The rest of the day was a whirlwind of excitement, and one I will always treasure. We are counting down the days until we are husband and wife!
