How We Met
Good thing we swiped right! Alex and I met on December 4, 2017, on good ol’ Bumble! He had been on the app for a few months with no success. I had just downloaded the app the day before and he was the first (and only) guy I ended up meeting in person. We met for coffee and chatted for hours in the cold outside the coffee shop. I went home that night and deleted the app! I think we both knew from the very beginning that we had found something very special. We now consider that day to be our anniversary because we have been inseparable ever since.
How They Asked
Alex asked me to marry him on April 17, 2020- in the midst of the global pandemic! It was tricky because we weren’t allowed to go anywhere and I hardly ever left the house.. so he had to get creative! He worked closely with my sister to arrange for me to leave the house for a “socially distanced happy hour” on my mom’s back patio. When I returned home the first thing I noticed was a trail of rose petals leading to the backyard. Through the window, I could see Alex standing in the middle of the yard.
He had our song playing on a loop throughout the house and outside speakers so that we could hear it as he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Just as the proposal was finished I turned around to see our friend Mel (who is an incredible photographer) hiding in the bushes on the side of the house! I had no idea she was there taking pictures.
She stayed at least 6 feet away as she captured the most precious moments of our life thus far. Alex then said he had one more surprise for me in the front yard. We walked out to see so many of my friends and family in their cars honking, playing music, and waving congratulatory signs. I could hardly contain my emotions as I saw our loved ones.. I only wished that I could hug them! It was truly the most amazing day and offered a hint of light during such a dark time.
p.s. Our Golden Retriever Finnegan took advantage of the fact that we were not paying attention to him and dug a huge hole splashing us with mud during the entire proposal!
