How We Met: Colby and I met when we were both 16. We went to different schools and it was the beginning of summer for me & my friend Lauren, who knew (and liked..whoops) Colby! She wanted to go over to his house & swim, so we did. Colby and his friend both wrestled and played around in the pool with Lauren, until finally Colby came over to me and tried to get me to have some fun. We instantly hit it off! Lauren wasn’t too pleased right at first, but they never were talking or a ‘thing’ so I didn’t think too much of it. I thought that it would just be a summer fling, because I knew he had the title of being a ‘player.’ Little did I know that 5 and a half years later, we would be engaged.
how they asked: It was New Year’s Eve and we had plans with some of our friends and family to go to a nice hotel and to Cool River, which is a nice bar/restaurant in Las Colinas. After I got ready, my dad called me to tell me him & my mom got an upgraded room and to come look at it. I didn’t think anything of this, because this kind of thing happens to them a lot with certain hotels they visit often. When I went up there, it was the governor’s suite so I walked in because the door was cracked and Colby had rose petals and candles lining a walkway that led to a circle with him standing in it.
I was so extremely happy, especially to see that to the side of the living room were my best friends and some of my family, including both sets of our parents. I, of course, said YES!!! I was also so excited that he had a photographer there to capture this beautiful moment, he did so good. Later, I found out that our dads were in on it but our moms didn’t know until earlier in the night when he surprised them with the news. I am so honored to be his future wife… I couldn’t think of a better man to spend my forever with.
