How We Met
Our story began when Cody and I were both in the Army stationed down at Fort Campbell, KY. A few friends of mine and I decided we were going to go out on a Saturday night to a bar I hadn’t been to yet. I was getting eye surgery in two weeks and didn’t like how I looked in my glasses and couldn’t wear my contacts, so just about everything that was further than 5 feet away from me was a blur. One of my friends noticed a couple of guys that were staring at my friend and I. We went over to talk to them, me not really knowing what I was about to see when we finally walked up to them. Cody and I began talking immediately about where we were from and found out we had grown up an hour away from each other our whole lives. He asked me if I wanted to dance with him after a little talking and after this we were inseparable. I knew immediately after our first conversation there was something so special about him that I felt with no one else. He has been my love and my best friend ever since.
How They Asked
Cody asked me to marry him on a family vacation in Aruba. He completely surprised me even though he made the mistake of sending me a picture of the ring a month previous but me being so gullible bought his cover up. We spent the whole day together running around on the beach followed by a private boat ride and parasailing over a few shipwrecks and sea turtles. After a fun evening with his family we both went back up to our hotel room and decided we were going to play some music over our speaker and relax on the balcony overlooking the beautiful beach. I put my hand on his leg to lean in and kiss him which then I felt the box in his pocket. I asked him what it was and he told me it was his wallet which once again me being gullible I didn’t think anything of it. After I kissed him I sat back and looked at the scenery and when I looked back over at him he was getting down on one knee with the box in his hand. He asked me if I would marry him which then I just screamed no out of shock because I couldn’t believe what was happening. I then looked at him and told him of course I would and began kissing him. I put the ring on and we decided to go down to the beach bar to get a celebratory drink together where his family was sitting waiting to congratulate us. One of the happiest days of my life in a paradise.
