Hailey and Dustin
How We Met
Dustin and I have been together since we’ve been 13 and are high school sweethearts. We met back in middle school, and I had the biggest crush on him. I told my friend that I was going to be his girlfriend one day. Over the years, we became really close and actually became best friends. It was our 8th grade year that we both realized we wanted to give it a shot. Since then, we’ve been inseparable. I spent 4 years of high school cheering him on every Friday night at football games and every basketball game watching him play. We went to all of our dances together and walked across the stage together. We are now 20 years old and I am in my first year of pharmacy school and Dustin works as a lineman. He supports my every decision and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
how they asked
The Sunday prior to our engagement was our 7 year anniversary. I always said that I wanted to be proposed to on the same day we got together, but he knew he could never surprise me that way. I had a feeling he was going to propose, but on our actual anniversary day. When our anniversary passed and there was no engagement the feeling completely left me. So for him propose that next week was a COMPLETE surprise. It was the day of Thanksgiving and he comes to my house to pick me up. That morning everything that could possibly go wrong was happening. I hated my outfit, nails, hair, makeup, everything. His response to my unhappiness was “I think you look so beautiful.” His statement had a way of turning my day around. He told me before we go to his grandma’s, we needed to stop at the store and pick up somethings. Little did I know, this was to stall so his little brother could go pick up my family and sneak them to his grandma’s. As we are approaching his grandma’s he tells me that I would have to go through the front door because the side door (that we normally use) had some things in front of it that had to be moved. So as I stood at the front door, by myself with a 12-pack of Sprite, and a bag of groceries, I waited patiently for someone to come open the door. When I heard the door unlock, I opened to find my fiancé staring back at me. Behind him was all of our families and a huge banner that said “Hailey, will you marry me?’ I looked into his eyes and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I immediately began crying and couldn’t comprehend what was happening. Of course, while sobbing I managed to let out a “yes” and a head node. After what felt like an eternity of a hug and kiss we exchanged, I FINALLY looked at my ring now sitting on my left, ring finger. It was honestly the most perfect thing I could of ever dreamed of. My ring, our families, how they asked, everything was perfect. My day went from being crappy to the best day of my life.
