Arryl and I started dating in November 2010. He is an elected official in our county and on December 1, 2016 our county held an inauguration. We planned to have people over at our house after the inauguration to congratulate him on his achievement. After inauguration we drove in the direction of our house but passed it. We pulled into a parking lot to ‘pick up food’ when he told me that we were going on an adventure. He told me to put sunglasses on (which he taped on the inside) and told me to close my eyes. We drove around for about 20 minutes and when we parked he told me to keep my eyes closed. He walked me out to a circle of roses and told me to take my sunglasses off and open my eyes. I was surprised and shocked to see our family and friends in front of us and when I turned to look at Arryl he was on one knee asking me to marry him. He planned this surprise engagement party to the point where no one knew who was invited so everyone else was surprised to see who was at the party. He hired a videographer and a professional photographer and we took our engagement photos right away. We are having a destination wedding in Positano Italy at the end of this year and this was his way of having our family be a part of a wedding event because they would not be able to make it to Italy. He is the most amazing man in the world and I cannot wait to marry him.
