How we met: Trevor and I met our freshman year of college at East Tennessee State University. We are both art majors and had almost every class together, so we became very good friends. It wasn’t till October of our sophomore year that he asked me on a date.
how they asked: Trevor chose to propose in Bristol because it is where I am from and it holds a special place in my heart for being a small-town and the musical heritage it has. Trevor decided to plan an all day event starting in Johnson City and ending at the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion. My family has attended every festival since it began and I was once even featured on a poster for the event.
Trevor wanted it to be a day we would remember forever and he got what he wanted. The crowd was much larger than he had originally imagined or planned for. The majority of the people, he and I did not know, but there was huge crowd as well that we did know!
The best part was that he had a videographer film everything that day so we could go back and watch it. You can’t hear in the video but as I made my way down state street to meet him Bruno Mars “Marry you” was playing. This is when I knew for sure he was going to propose but I wouldn’t dare say that the entire video!
Since the proposal we have been featured twice on the front page of our local news paper, The Bristol Herald Courier and have done quite a few interviews. We received pictures and videos from so many people, even ones we didn’t know. It’s all been very exciting and I am blessed to have a man who wanted to share our love story with so many people!
