How They Asked
My dad was killed in an accident last January. The night before he passed away, his last words to me were jokingly “you better be nice to that boy. He’s my last chance of getting rid of you.” After he died, I knew that even though he would never be able to walk his baby girl down the aisle, he knew who he wanted to take care of me for the rest of my life.
It was also a dream of his for Brock to use the band he gave my mom many years ago. At the end of our Christmas game for the OKC Thunder, our coach told us we were staying on the court after to do press pics. All of the girls knew it was happening besides me.
After we took a couple shots, the girls split down the middle and Brock started to walk towards me, publicly professed his love for me and got down on one knee, right there I. The middle of the court. He opened a black velvet box to reveal the ring my sweet dad had given my mom so many years ago with a new stone to commemorate our journey together just beginning.
Every time I look down at that ring, I get to celebrate 2 love stories that both mean so much to me for the rest of my life.
