How we met: Matt and I met through a mutual friend that Matt worked with at time. The day we met Matt was actually working at the moment so it was just a brief introduction and “hello”. I remember walking away thinking “he sure was cute.” But nothing come of our meeting until six months later when the same mutual friend who introduced us told me, “Grace you really need to go on a date with Matt.” A few days later Matt finally got the nerve to ask me out on a real date, and of course I said yes! I am so glad that I did. From the moment we had our first conversation I knew that Matt was the “one”. The rest, as they say, is history!
how they asked: I’m not the easiest to surprise, so Matt knew his proposal would have to be well though out. On Sunday, October 5 2014 Matt decided he wanted us to go on a ride on our Harley, which was nothing out of the ordinary. But when I asked where we were going he would never give me a straight answer. After riding around for a few hours we found ourselves at Brasstown Bald, which is the highest point in Georgia and has absolutely stunning views. As I was admiring the view and all of God’s beauty, I turned around to find Matt down on one knee, proposing! I was so surprised; Matt had a hard time understanding me through all of my tears. The entire ride home I just stared at my ring thinking, “I’m engaged, I get to marry the man of my dreams!”
Matt and I do not have any photos of our proposal. When Matt and I talked about an engagement, we both agreed that we did feel that having somebody photograph the moment/proposal was not necessary. We wanted to enjoy the moment to be just he two of us and enjoy the moment as a newly engaged couple. Instead, we agreed to have plenty of engagement and wedding photographs.
