How We Met

Blaine and I met in Dallas 2 years ago! We were both at our favorite outdoor bar, Katy Trail Ice House, with our best friends when we met. It was actually just a few days before Blaine’s birthday, August 8th! We all started chatting, and it felt like we had always known each other and we just hit it off instantly🤍🤍🤍we spent several months dating and getting to know each other, but we knew we were meant to be once we met each other’s families and just fit in perfectly. Fast forward 6 months and he found out he was relocating to Philly for work! As an independent, strong woman, I was not onboard with leaving my career to relocate to a new city for a man😂😂but as Blaine and I continued dating, I couldn’t imagine my life without him and knew I’d regret not following my heart. After 6 months of long distance, I relocated to Philly to be with my love without a job, but full of hope for the future! In Summer of 2019, we went apartment hunting and explored different neighborhoods and quickly fell in love with Society Hill / Queen Village and Penn’s Landing. On my first visit to Philadelphia, we had drinks on the Moshulu and fell in love with being close to the water after being landlocked in Dallas. Who knew, that just a few months later, we would be getting engaged at that exact spot!

How They Asked

Blaine’s brother and his fiancé were visiting us for the weekend. We had the best day picnicking in Fairmount Park and went back to our place to get ready for dinner/drinks on the Moshulu. This was the first place we had drinks when we visited Philadelphia before moving a few months later. We just both fell in love with the ship, the area, and sundowners on the water (We now live just a few blocks from this location!) Everyone was being super weird and I was noticing that something was up.

But right before we were about to leave, I noticed Blaine hadn’t shaved (he normally always shaves before any event), so I quickly brushed off any suspicions had that a proposal was ahead. As we were approaching the boat, Blaine asked me to be his wife!! My future SIL was recording the whole thing and you can see my utter shock. I was absolutely speechless.

As if the day could get any better, I looked over my shoulder and my mom and sister were running towards us. Blaine pulled off the biggest surprise of my life. He proposed in front of the Moshulu and both of our families came running out from the boat. To say I was shocked is an understatement because COVID was just starting to spike in NY, so I was not expecting anyone to be traveling (especially my parents!) It was a perfect day celebrating with our loved ones — even my pup Honey!
