Eli and I were flying to San Fran that day to visit his family for the holidays. Truthfully, it was not the easiest travel day: Eli had the flu earlier that week and was still not 100%, our flight was delayed, plus the airport was in full holiday madness!
We finally landed in SF and got the rental car 2 hours later than expected. Eli mentioned we should stop at the Golden Gate Bridge to get some fresh air and snap a photo before heading to his fam’s house. I agreed, thinking nothing of it (especially since our schedule was delayed a couple hours).
We parked at a lookout, walked for awhile, then stopped to admire the beautiful view. All of a sudden Eli started walking away from me, then slowly walked back towards me and leaned down on one knee…
I was so incredibly shocked (hands trembling), I can’t even remember the words that came out of his or my mouth! I had no idea he had planned this for months and hired professional photographers (who were patiently waiting) to capture the entire moment!!!
I had spent that morning and earlier that week trying to keep my distance from him to make sure I didn’t end up getting his flu. At that unbelievable moment, I could have cared less as I kissed my new fiancé in unadulterated bliss! (Our first kiss in a week!)
Our proposal story gives me a whole new perspective of “in sickness and in health!”
