How We Met
Austin and I met in Tifton, Georgia. I was in college there working at Smallcakes, a cupcake bakery. Austin’s family owns the store, and he would come in every now and then. I had the biggest crush. One night, I saw him out and looked at my best friend Celie and said, “Celie that’s Austin!”. She had heard me talk of him in the past. I went up to him, and the rest is history.
how they asked
May 7, 2016 was dream. My parents were in town from Atlanta for my college graduation and Mother’s Day and we had plans to meet them and Austin’s parents in Valdosta for supper. When Austin and I first started dating, he lived in a sweet little cabin on a plantation. I love that cabin. We have the best memories there and love going back to let our two dogs run and walk around in awe of the beauty of the land. We went back out there on our one-year anniversary because it is such a special place. Austin mentioned that he wanted to go out there and celebrate my graduation. I was SO excited. I knew we had to dress nice for supper, and were stopping at the cabin on the way to supper.
We pulled up to the plantation and started down the long windy driveway. I had butterflies, little did I know what was about to happen. We got out of the car and Austin told me he he got one of our dogs, Ava a pink collar and wanted me to put it on her. When I started to put it one her, he said to make sure they spelled her name right. Well, it didn’t say Ava, it said “Will you marry my dad”. I looked and Austin was on one knee and asked me to marry him. In that moment, I felt the most joy I’ve ever known. Then, I looked up and my whole family and his walked out of the cabin!! I was shocked, overjoyed, and the happiest I have ever been in my life.
