Gina and Michael

how they asked: Michael and I became engaged on August 28, 2014.  Although some people think their engagement story is the best, I would say that mine was not only the best but truly unforgettable moment and one I’ll never forget.

The story begins with my birthday – August 20th. Michael had informed me that my present would be coming late but that it was on its way. The birthday present he told me was a specially-framed photo that my late father had in his home. Michael did not get me a card for my birthday and that was the running joke of the house for a few days. So, on August 28th, I went out to dinner with my friend Amy. As she and I were out to dinner Michael said he had a surprise for me when I got home. So of course I knew it was the photo as quite a few days had passed since my birthday.

When I got home, I walked in the door and saw a card and flowers on our dinner table. Michael looked at me and said “I just wanted to get you a card because I never did get one for your birthday”. Of course I told him that he was silly and he didn’t have to do that. He had informed me that he had one last surprise. I knew at that point he was taking me to see the photo that came in. Michael and I discussed previously that we would hang it in the dining room and we were headed that way. As we walked down the hall I quickly realized that there was no photo so of course in my mind I’m confused as to what is going on. He took me upstairs and got to our bedroom (where the door was closed) and said “close your eyes and I’ll let you know when to open them”.

Michael opened the door and I opened my eyes to a bed full of rose pedals shaped into a heart. Next to that heart was a stuffed animal. Michael asked me to grab the stuffed animal and then asked me to “press his paw”. As soon as I did, it was Michael’s voice  asking me to marry him. As the recording was playing he was getting down on one knee and of course the rest is history.

This was obviously one of the best moments of our lives and something I will never forget. Michael put a lot of time and effort into this and hit a home run.
