Gabriella and Ryan
How We Met
Ryan and I met through mutual friends. One of my best friends is dating a friend of his, and they thought it would be a good idea to set us up (which it totally was by the way lol)! He was extremely romantic and slid into my DMs on Instagram. I was going to a country concert with the people who introduced us to each other, and due to someone else bailing out, we had an extra ticket. I asked him if he wanted to come and with no hesitation, he agreed. It was the first time we met in person, and we kicked it out as if we knew each other forever!
How They Asked
Ryan knows how much I love Disney. We took our first trip to Disney World in March 2018. Now we are obsessed and go all the time! He was deployed overseas at the beginning of 2019 and said he wanted to go back to Disney World together with his family once he returned home. Of course, I’m not going to say no to a trip to Disney World! So I got my notebook out and planned out as much as I possibly could. Little did I know that he had plans of his own. He invited my family and made it seem like he just wanted everyone together after being away from home for almost a year. When we got to the Magic Kingdom, which is my favorite park, my dad pointed out Cinderella’s Wishing Well. He said he didn’t notice that during our last trip and wanted to go up there and check it out.
We walked up to the well and a Disney photographer was there taking pictures of the castle. I thought to myself, “They must’ve made this a new photo pass location.” There’s a sign below the well that says “Your wishes will help the dreams of children come true,” meaning the change thrown into the well is collected and donated to children’s charities. Therefore, whenever I go to the well, I make a wish and throw a coin in. I asked Ryan for a penny so I could make a wish.
When I turned around after making my wish, there he was down on one knee, with my family in the background taking pictures and recording. I didn’t find out until after that that Disney photographer was actually set up by my parents to be at that location to capture our engagement! We basically got a mini engagement shoot and as a gift, he gave us a voucher to have one of the pictures printed for free! That’s the Disney magic for ya! Disney World has always been a special place for me, and now it’s become even more special.
