How We Met
I had been crushing on Yunelson for years after seeing him once from a very far distance at a youth convention years before. Although, I never got to know his name that youth convention, I never forgot how handsome he was!) Years later, Yunelson then just so happened to see a picture of me on Facebook and friend requested me and ever since then we were Facebook friends and would casually message each other here and there as friends with the same interests.
Yunelson & I officially met on New Year’s Day 2011 at my church’s annual ringing in the new year service! Yunelson was from a different church and just happened to visit my church that new years day. I still remember the butterflies in my stomach when I saw Yunelson walk in the church doors. I was so pleasantly surprised to see him and I immediately told my sister Carolina and my mom who knew how long I’d been crushing on Yunelson for! After the service ended, Yunelson walked up to me and we smiled and had some small talk and ever since then, 5 years later, the flirting never stopped!
how they asked
August 20th, 2016 was hands down the best day of my life thus far! It all started with what was suppose to be normal date with my girls to the nail salon. To my surprise, when I walked outside of my house, I began to hear our song playing and saw my girls holding a bouquet of two dozen roses and a letter that read: “Hi babe, today is the day!!! I have arranged for you to get your nails done with the girls. Afterwards, you will go for some lunch anywhere of your choosing. Then, you will meet with your favorite make up artist. I hope you enjoy yourself and make sure you wear that white dress I bought you. Can’t wait to see you! Love you princess!”
I was in complete utter shock, the moment I’ve been dreaming of, prayed for, and pictured in my head for as long as I could remember was happening! After countless “is this foreal?” questions, happy tears and pure genuine joy after reading the letter, I went on to enjoy the beautiful day planned ahead for me! Everything from choosing the perfect nail color (c180, I’ll never forget, lol) to having an amazing lunch by the water, to getting all dolled up for my special day.
I was then blindfolded and guided to be in front of the man behind it all, (my now dreamy fiancé) who said the most heart warming, perfect speech and ended with the words “Gabriela Alexandra Hernandez, will you marry me?”
With tears in my eyes, I happily and quickly responded YES… twice! (just to make sure he heard me, lol). After putting on the most perfect ring on my finger, all of our friends and family started cheering, and yes more tears! I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day!
YUNELSON TORRES, I love you with all of me. you are in every sense of the word, my biggest blessing yet and I cannot wait to share the rest of my life with you!
Thank you to all our friends and family! We are honestly, humbled and thankful for the amount of love we have received! And to all those who made our special day possible and were there to witness such a memorable day in our lives! We love you guys!
