How We Met
Kevin and I met in June in 2015 as coworkers at a small tech start up in San Francisco. We started on a sales team together and almost immediately his intelligence and great looks stood out to me. We spent almost every week for years competing for the most sales. Pretty soon after we became inseperable. Kevin and I have since then moved onto different companies, but we both thank that little company every day for existing and bringing us together. We’re best friends, a little strange, and definitely over competitive. It just works!
How They Asked
When Kevin proposed, he and I were on vacation in Hawaii visiting his Aunt and Uncle who happen to be professional and tandem skydivers in Oahu at Skydive Hawaii.
For years I had begged Kevin to jump with me, but he was admittedly a little afraid of heights and even dodged the idea of visiting his family in Oahu within fear that I would convince him to skydive haha. When he finally planned our trip to Hawaii on his own, I was so excited that he also agreed to go skydiving. I did not think anything was up since we had been dying to get a vacation and to visit his family. Thinking back, it was a little funny that Kevin’s Aunt and Uncle took us to get amazing pedicures – the funny part being that Kevin kept asking if I needed my nails redone haha.
The morning of the skydive I remember his aunt and uncle seemed totally calm and collected so I definitely felt comfortable focusing on the views once we got in the air. Kevin seemed so nervous but I assumed it was about the jump. Eventually, he relaxed in the airplane. I remember that he insisted that he and his uncle jump first. When we began our parachute down, I was so full of adrenaline and excitement that I couldn’t wait to just give Kevin a big hug and kiss for planning the best day ever.
Little did I know, Kevin already had given the staff the ring to hold during the jump and they gave it to him as soon as he landed. Kevin walked straight up to me and tapped me on the shoulder and immediately dropped on one knee. His face was so pale and he had the goofiest and biggest smile that I’ve ever seen on his face. Kevin couldn’t even get a word out before I tackled him and started screaming “thank you!” (As in thank you for asking haha). When I calmed down for a second he finally asked me to Marry him. I screamed yes and the rest was a blur.
Ps- The camera and videographer at Skydive Hawaii (the entire team!!) made us feel so special! I can’t thank them all enough for keeping us all safe and capturing exactly how we felt on that special day.
