How We Met
I had just finished high school and was looking for my first part time job. My best friend at the time had just gotten a job at Staples and I was dying to work with her, so I applied. John was the hiring manager at the time. Needless to say, I applied 4 times before he finally gave me a job as a cashier! He ended up getting promoted and left our store a couple months after.
John had visited the store quite a few times in an attempt to ask me out, but was never able to. After numerous attempts, he ended up asking one of our coworkers to give me his number, and that’s how it all started.
I knew he was the one from the moment I met him. I couldn’t keep my composure around him. I tripped over boxes when he was around, I was star struck and I could only muster up 3 words to him at this point. He would always walk around the store and tease me that he was going to marry me one day. Fast forward 6 years and here we stand today with our beautiful son, engaged, ready to embark on this exciting new journey as a family. I couldn’t be happier.
how they asked
We had booked a Christmas Tree Farm photo shoot with our family photographer to get some updated Christmas photos. I booked the session with the intentions of getting some family shots, not realizing what was waiting for me as the session progressed.
John had contacted our photographer, Katie, prior to our shoot letting her know that he was planning on proposing during our session. She was ecstatic and immediately began to help him plan and execute the perfect proposal, caught on camera.
Half way through the session, Katie told me to smile at the camera and had John posing behind me. Little did I know, as I looked into the camera, that my husband-to-be was kneeling behind me. As seen in the first photo below, at that moment, I had no idea what was happening behind me.
Katie told me to turn around, and I looked back to find John with a ring in his hand, on one knee.
Emotions ran through me as I had dreamed of this moment for quite some time. I couldn’t believe this was happening. The father of our son, and now my fiancee and husband-to-be. I was so emotional I forgot to say yes at first!
We held our son and fully emerged ourselves in this moment, as I tried to take in what just happened. It still doesn’t feel real!
It was a day we will never forget, and a moment engraved we can hold on to forever.
